In order to keep strong in our Christian life, there are three essentials. Just as in our physical life we must breathe, eat, and exercise, so in the spiritual life we must observe these three essentials to success and happiness. Konsep kehidupan orang Kristen berbeda dengan orang-orang lain. Kehidupan orang Kristen adalah kehidupan dalam anugerah untuk mengambil bagian dalam rencana karya penyelamatan Allah dalam tuhan Yesus Kristus. Kehidupan yang bertujuan untuk mengerjakan pekerjaan baik yang sudah dipersiapkan Allah sebelum dunia diajadikan (Efesus 2:10). God listens to our prayers.  He answers our prayers – always.  Not always as we want, for God is not a vending machine.  He is the Sovereign LORD of the Universe and all that is contained therein.   Besides which God is God.  We are not.  But prayer matters, it is a privilege He allows us to partake in.  Prayer changes things.  Most of all, it changes us. Christian hope is both eschatological and immediate.   On the eschatological (end times) side of things, we believe God’s promise to bring a right end to this story we call life and time.  We may not know what tomorrow will bring, but we do know (hope) that when all the tomorrows end, God will remain and we will remain with Him. On the immediate side of things, hope puts today in proper light and establishes for us a proper way to interpret our day-by-day reality.  We walk daily with a certain discontentment owing to the fact that our sinful world and sinful selves are not as they should be, and are not as they will be.  We also walk daily with joy owing to the fact that our sinful world and sinful selves are finding salvation in God through Christ. The spiritual disciplines are receiving a sort of resurgence within the Christian church today, with good reason. As Christianity has stagnated in the USA, a new emphasis has been placed on true discipleship within the Christian church. However, one of the spiritual disciplines which has not received a great deal of attention is that of reflection. Speaking from the Reformed perspective, I believe the reason for this inattention to be twofold. First, our American society tells us to never slow down and keeps us running frantically from one thing to the next. Everything in our lives is fast paced, and any time spent in reflection would obviously be seen as "wasted" time. Unfortunately, this attitude has crept into the church. As church members we are whisked along from one meeting to another, from one program to the next. Slowing down is simply not something we are good at.
